MBNA is the world’s largest independent credit card lender. In the UK alone, it serves over seven million customers. For over ten years, We provided the company with new-build, refurbishment and masterplanning services throughout Europe. The Lakeside Land Masterplan is the cornerstone of this work, establishing the vision for a large greenfield headquarters for upwards of 4,000 UK staff.
The masterplan sets out over 115,000m2 of prime office accommodation in an attractively landscaped setting. It incorporates four main linked buildings, a highly secure processing facility and a number of stand-alone properties (including refurbishments). It has been designed with extreme sensitivity to the natural habitat of several protected species, which it enhances through the creation of a new wetland nature reserve and other environmental features.
MBNA has consistently been voted ‘Best Workplace in Europe’ by the Great Place to Work® Institute. As well as high quality open-plan and cellular office space, the masterplan includes a training centre, staff restaurant and leisure centre. It gives over 12 acres of parkland to outdoor sports pitches and a trim trail and provides extensive surface and decked carparking, as well as goods yards.
