History

Dyer Hampson Wight was originally founded in Cheltenham in 1964 under the name of Roger Dyer Associates. In its early years the practice established its reputation for designing innovative, bold, modernist buildings throughout Cheltenham and the wider Southwest region. In the 1990’s, Dyer Associates expanded throughout the UK, opening offices in London and Edinburgh.

During this time the business also established a global reputation working internationally in Spain, Abu Dhabi and Russia. In 2016 the then multi-national parent company, Group Dyer, was restructured to reflect the geographical markets they served with the UK studio in London rebranded as Architects Dyer and led by Tim Hampson.

The business was strengthened with the promotion of our latest generation of Directors - Charlotte Hampson in 2021 and Gregor Wight in 2025.

In 2026 Architects Dyer was renamed Dyer Hampson Wight to reflect the latest generation of leadership and to recognise Tim’s legacy.

Dyer Hampson Wight still embodies the values and ethos of the original founding partners – creating innovative, bold architecture which responds to its place and which endures.

Approach

Dyer Hampson Wight is a RIBA-chartered architectural studio dedicated to creating thoughtful, sustainable buildings that make a positive difference. We believe good design should enhance comfort, wellbeing, and community while respecting the environment. From our studio in Evesham, our Residential team works closely with clients across Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, and Herefordshire, while our Commercial team delivers projects throughout the UK.

Our ambition is to design projects that strengthen their social, environmental, and cultural context, put sustainability and innovation at the forefront, deliver healthy and comfortable places for people to live and work, and remain practical, durable, and cost-effective for the long term.

Every project begins with listening. We take time to understand your goals, aspirations, and the particular qualities of your site. Through detailed analysis and a research-led approach, we uncover opportunities to add value and design solutions that respond directly to context. We thrive on the challenge of working with existing buildings, sensitive sites, and complex briefs. Whether it is a contemporary new-build, the restoration of a historic structure, or a carefully crafted retrofit, our process is always collaborative, pragmatic, and creative.

Our services span the full life cycle of a project, blending creativity with technical expertise.

We provide residential retrofit, extension, and new-build design; commercial, hospitality, and workplace architecture; planning applications and approvals; Passivhaus-certified design for low-energy buildings; interior architecture and design; conservation and restoration of historic buildings; 3D visualisation, rendering, and VR walk-throughs; CDM Principal Designer services; and technical advisory and compliance monitoring.

Yes. An architect brings expertise that goes beyond drawing plans. We help you define your vision, unlock the potential of your site, and design a building that is beautiful, practical, and energy-efficient. At Dyer Hampson Wight, we ensure every design is tailored to its users and context, while guiding you through planning, regulations, and construction with confidence.

We work across residential, commercial, and community projects. Our residential team focuses on retrofits, extensions, and new-build homes, while our commercial team delivers workplace, hospitality, and mixed-use developments nationwide. A consistent thread through all of our work is sustainability, whether that means Passivhaus-certified design, sensitive conservation, or innovative low-carbon solutions.

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We aim to reduce carbon emissions through careful design, material choices, and energy efficiency strategies. Our team includes Passivhaus-certified designers who create buildings that use significantly less energy while improving comfort and wellbeing. For us, sustainable architecture is not an add-on but an essential part of good design.

We begin by listening to your goals and studying your site in detail. From there, we explore design options and work with you to refine a clear, practical, and inspiring vision. Each stage is collaborative, from concept sketches through planning and technical design to the construction phase. Our research-led approach helps us find innovative, cost-effective solutions tailored to your needs.

Yes. We prepare and submit planning applications on your behalf, drawing on our deep understanding of local and national policy. Because we are experienced in working on sensitive sites, heritage assets, and complex briefs, we know how to navigate the planning system effectively. Our track record includes securing consent for projects in conservation areas, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and listed buildings.

Our fees are tailored to each project and depend on its scale, complexity, and scope of services required. We typically work on a staged basis, so you only commit to the next step when you are ready. At the outset, we provide a clear proposal so you know exactly what to expect. Transparency is important to us, and we always aim to deliver value through high-quality, efficient design.
